How to complete or update your AoBP Directory Profile

Your AoBP Member Directory profile is your opportunity to tell people about you, your work and the sectors in which you operate.

Completing your profile also enables visitors to find you when they search the directory by industry sector.

1. Log in to your account

Go to the UCA Member Login page:

Member Login

Sign in using the email address and password associated with your AoBP membership.

Once logged in, scroll down to Manage My Account and select:

CLICK HERE TO EDIT YOUR ACCOUNT

2. Check your account information

You will initially arrive on the About tab.

Check that your details are correct, including your:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Telephone number
  • Address
  • Website

When you have finished, select SAVE & CONTINUE.

3. Complete your Directory Profile

Select the Directory tab.

This is where you control the information visitors will see when they open your profile in the AoBP Member Directory.

Profile Card

Upload either:

  • A professional photograph of yourself, or
  • Your organisation/business logo.

Add a short strapline explaining what you do.

For example:

Business Poet | Facilitator | Leadership & Organisational Development

Keep this short — the fuller explanation belongs in your Profile Description.

Profile Description

Use the Profile description box to introduce yourself and your work.

You might include:

  • What you do
  • Who you work with
  • How you use poetry within your work
  • Your particular areas of expertise
  • Services you provide
  • The types of organisations, businesses or communities you work with
  • What you would particularly welcome enquiries about

Think of this as your shop window rather than your autobiography.

Profile Gallery

You can also upload additional images to your Profile Gallery, such as photographs of:

  • You speaking or facilitating
  • Workshops or events
  • Your work in action
  • Relevant projects or activities

Please only upload photographs or images that you have permission to publish.

Social Media

Add any social media accounts you would like visitors to be able to access, including:

  • LinkedIn
  • Facebook
  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • X/Twitter
  • Pinterest

You do not need to complete every field.

When finished, select SAVE & CONTINUE.

4. Add a Video – optional

Select the Videos tab.

You can add a link to a YouTube or Vimeo video which will be displayed on your online directory profile.

This is entirely optional, but it can be a useful way of letting people experience you and your work.

Select + ADD VIDEO to add one.

When finished, select SAVE & CONTINUE.

5. Check your Privacy Settings

Select the Settings tab.

This is important because these settings control what information is visible through your profile.

In particular, check Do not list in directory.

Leave this box UNTICKED if you want your profile to appear in the AoBP Member Directory.

You can separately choose whether your:

  • Street address
  • Telephone number
  • Mobile number
  • Contact name
  • Messaging facility

are shown.

You therefore do not have to make your personal contact information public in order to appear in the directory.

When finished, select SAVE & CONTINUE.

6. Choose your AoBP Categories

You will also see a section headed AoBP Categories.

This is particularly important.

These categories power the AoBP Members by Industry Sector search on the directory.

Tick each sector that genuinely represents the areas in which you work or have relevant experience.

For example, if you work with educational organisations and charities, you could select both:

☑ Education
☑ Charities, Non-profits & Fundraising

You are can select up to ten categories. Select all that are genuinely relevant to your work, but please avoid selecting every category simply to appear in more searches — the directory is most useful when the results accurately reflect members’ experience.

The categories include areas such as Education, Consulting & Business Services, Financial Services, Health & Healthcare, Government & Public Sector, Legal Services, Human Resources & People Services, Events & Experiences and many others.

7. Save your profile

Once you have completed your information and selected your AoBP Categories, make sure you select SAVE & CONTINUE wherever this appears so that your changes are saved.

8. Check your finished profile

Finally, visit the Association of Business Poets Member Directory and find your listing.

Check that:

  • Your name is correct
  • Your photograph or logo displays properly
  • Your strapline makes sense
  • Your profile description is up to date
  • Your links work
  • You appear under the appropriate industry sector(s)

If anything needs changing, simply return to Member Login → Manage My Account → Directory and update it.
