Trust: The Key to Coaching That Connects

A coaching conversation can look fine on the surface — thoughtful questions asked, reflective silence held — and yet something isn’t shifting. The client stays guarded. The dialogue circles back on itself. The coach begins to wonder: what’s missing here?

More often than not, what’s missing is trust.

Trust is the invisible thread that strengthens every Coaching or SuperVision encounter. Without it, clients may hesitate to share what really matters. With it, the conversation becomes a place where insight deepens and genuine change takes root.

Where Trust Shows Up

In our Coaching and SuperVision practice, trust is multi-layered:

  1. Self-Trust – Confidence in who we are and how we show up
  2. Relational Trust – The sense of safety created in the relationship
  3. Trust in the Process – Faith in the coaching tools and frameworks we use
  4. Trusting the Client – Recognising that the client is the expert in their own life

When these layers align, they create the conditions where courage and creativity can flourish. On 15 October 2025, Val Mullally, accredited supervision facilitator and author, will be sharing more thoughts on this topic in a webinar for the Universal Coaching Alliance community.

What You’ll Experience in the Webinar

In Coaching That Connects: How TRAKC© Creates Safety and Sparks Transformation, we’ll explore:

  • What helps a coaching relationship feel safe enough for meaningful growth
  • How power and vulnerability show up — and how to work with them
  • Ways to nurture compassion, creativity, and courage in our professional practice

This won’t be theory alone. Through reflective exercises and creative tools, you’ll have the chance to experience first-hand how trust shifts the dynamic — and how you can bring that awareness into your own Coaching or SuperVision.

Val offers Creative SuperVision, providing 1:1 and group support to coaches and leaders in Education and the Caring Professions.
