Raising the Standard in Neurodiversity-Informed Coaching

Neurodiversity Celebration Week – Day One
Why ANUCA Was Created - And Why Now

Today’s conversation features Tom Llewellyn in discussion with Esther Barrett, sharing the story behind the creation of ANUCA.
The short version?
“We thought it was a good idea.”
The longer version – and the real one – is far more important.

The Landscape Has Changed

Over the past few years, interest in ADHD and neurodivergence has grown rapidly.

That’s brought:

  • Existing coaches wanting to work more confidently with neurodivergent clients
  • New practitioners entering coaching specifically for this field
  • A surge in demand for neurodivergent-friendly support

But with growth comes inconsistency.

As Tom explains, the quality of support has sometimes been “hit and miss”. And when you’re working with neurodivergent individuals who may have different processing styles, communication preferences, sensory needs, and executive functioning patterns, that matters.

Watch the video to hear Tom share the story behind ANUCA’s creation and the vision for what comes next.

ANUCA was created to bring:

✔ Shared standards
✔ Shared learning
✔ Shared accountability
✔ A shared professional identity

A Dedicated Space for Neurodivergent-Friendly Coaching

While there are general coaching professional bodies, there hasn’t been a UK-based home specifically focused on ADHD and neurodiversity-informed practice.

ANUCA changes that.

Members gain access to:

  • Specialist ADHD and neurodivergent-friendly coaching resources
  • Exclusive expert-led events
  • A dedicated forum for connection and discussion
  • Coffee mornings, body doubling sessions, and special interest groups
  • Group supervision opportunities

And crucially, a place to build this profession with intention.

Tackling Isolation in Coaching

Tom speaks candidly about something many coaches feel but rarely say out loud:

Coaching can be isolating.

The shift from organisational life to self-employment can be lonely, and if you’re neurodivergent yourself, that transition can bring additional challenges.

ANUCA was designed to reduce that isolation by:

  • Offering multiple ways to connect
  • Respecting different communication styles (camera on, camera off, chat-only — all welcome)
  • Creating psychologically safe spaces
  • Allowing you to “come as you are”

It’s neurodivergent-friendly in practice – not just in principle.

Why Join UCA and ANUCA Now?

As Tom puts it:

This is an opportunity to be at the start of something extraordinary.

To learn from leading minds in neurodivergent coaching.
To contribute your own voice.
To help shape standards in an emerging field.
To build connections that genuinely matter.

ANUCA isn’t just a membership.
It’s the building of a profession – done thoughtfully.
